Top of the Rock to you!!
And finally as they say in the news -as it's getting late!
Lastly we went to The Rockefeller Centre at Radio City! We were going to the Top of the Rock! In we went and it started by going DOWN to the basement! Now that was odd! But, tickets collected again we went back up to ground level and ..........yes......we queued again to get in the lift!
The lift came and in we went! Only SEVENTY floors to go up! And the ceiling was GLASS! We watched as we hurtled up and up and up before we slowed to a halt on the observation deck! This was one of three levels and we ot great views of Manhattan from all directions!
We stood and looked out as Central Park sprawled before us and then we went to the other side where we looked straight over to The Empire State! Words failed me! People were snapping away like crazy! It was an awesome way to end the day! We got views just as daylight faded and spectacular views as the lights across the huge metropolis began to illuminate the night sky!!
Having hurtled back down even quicker than we went up we headed out into the evening for tea! We were off to Ellen's Star Diner where you get your meal as being served by 'wannabe' singers and actors who take it in turn to break into song to entertain everyone while hoping some casting director is in the house scouting for new talent for their next Broadway hit!! It was just great! Thanks to Alison who recommended it to us before we went!
Wow! What a day! New York just never stops and either can we if we are going to see even a little of it! We have another day of bedlam lined up tomorrow!!
Night! Help! 1am - I better go sleep or their will be ructions!!

Harry Potter and Madam Tusauds!
On leaving Battery Park we went to The Skyscraper Museum (They thought Lauren would like that being a budding architect!) and then up to Ground Zero where the area is still a vast building site!
We had lunch in a deli and then went on a hunt to get the bus stop to get the our bus to take us back to Times Square! We got it eventually back at the place we were dropped off! We went through China Town, Little Italy and a variety of other areas before being dropped off outside the HQ of the UN! we then walked from 1st Avenue all the way to 6th Avenue back to our hotel for an hours rest!
Then we were off out again! First it was to the Times Discovery Centre to go to The Harry Potter Exhibition! It was ACE! however, they would not let us take ANY photos and there would have been HEEPS of possible photo ops for me! Broom sticks, Quidditch and a chance to be taken with Dobbie! But alas no photos! The exhibition was a vast collection of artefacts, sets and costumes from the movies! It was just Hogwarts-spectacular! Kelsey loved it and I would gladly go again! I watched it all from the rucksack as the zip was left open for me to see!
Then we went off to Madam Tusauds! All of them, and me, were being photographed with the rich, famous, infamous and on some occasions people we had no clue who they were - but looked hot!!

Now look closely! I climbed right to the top and deserved this photo! But look at Kelsey! We didn't complain when she was taken with everyone else!!
So who is cool NOW! Bono was desperate to be taken with me! In the name of love!!
Now,come on George! I'd be great in Ocean's 14! A bear would add a new dimension! George and Ted's Great Adventure!!
Now, not everyone played nice! Shame on you Mr Hulk! I'm just a little bear! You're almost all bare!!

Taking Liberties! And being Scottish means....!
Day 2 - Taking Liberties!
Today was hectic, frenetic, mad and tiring!
I was up early! Although, after spending ANOTHER night in the ruck sack daytime could not come early enough!
We left just after 8am and headed straight to 'Planet Hollywood (which is an odd thing to find in NYC!) to get their 'New York Passes.' again there was a mistake! They only got FOUR - again! So after getting this we were off to find the NY Tour Bus that would take us down to Battery Park. That's at the very bottom tip of Manhatten and TOO far for them to walk let alone a very small bear in a kilt! (Although the Naked Cowboy in Times Square seems to manage!!)
On the way own we saw the Empire State (wow!!), Macy's, Ground Zero, The Flat Iron building and 2 or 3 frustrated fire engines trying to snake their way through the traffic to get to whatever was on fire or where a cat was stuck up a tree! (Stupid cats!!)
The tour guide asked us where we were from! Andrew said, 'Scotland!'
'Scotland!' he exclaimed, 'The home of SUSAN BOYLE!' So now we know what we are famous for! (Note to self - NO more saying we are Scottish!!!!!)
After quite a drive, and zig zagging back and fore across the blocks, we made it to Battery Park! They decided it was breakfast time! We found a vendor in the park and decided to try pretzels! And guess what.......they are HUGE! They are not like the ones we get at New Years at home! These were pretzels on steroids!!
Anyway, once we had this we set off to go to see Miss Liberty! We got our tickets at Castle Clinton and AVOIDED the queue as we had our passes! But then we HIT the real queue! It was huge! Or as Joey's agent in Friends would say "HUUUUGE."
Then I got really worried! We had to go through security! It was worse than the airport! No bottles, no food, everything out of pockets, no belts and then everything was x-rayed (boy am I getting fed up being x-rayed as I now seem to be glowing!!) and they went through the metal detectors! Anyway, after queueing AGAIN we made it on to the ferry! Herded on like sheep (maaaaaa!) we went upstairs and enjoyed the trip to Liberty Island! Everyone was fiddling, taking photos or jostling about to get the best pitch to do so! As we got closer she got bigger and bigger!
We got off and the first thing we did was get an ice-cream and some water! It was hot! Perhaps I should have shaved before leaving home! Sheep have the right idea - lose the coat in the summer!
We walked round the island and took photos and video from all angles! Everybody had the same idea! They were all posing, pointing and snapping away!
Andrew asked a guy if he wanted a picture of him and his wife ( not Andrew and the man's wife, silly!!) together! He said that would be good! Of course he had to have a Scottish accent! They were from Dundee!!
After going right round the island we joined another HUUUGE queue to get back on the ferry! We were going to go to Ellis Island but they all decided they had been there long enough and we would remain on the ferry back to Manhatten! The views of the skyline were awesome!

'I really love life in the Big Apple,' Ted told his host!
When asked where he came from his reply was followed up by, "Scotland? That's where Susan Boyle comes from!"
Ted just looked at the camera and rolled his eyes!
