Day 1: The Big Smoke

Well, 1 of the 2 biggies has fallen asleep sfter a busy day! Well they were up at 4.30am!
They were up surprisingly quickly and whe I managed a quick post from the hotel they were getting ready! We arrived late at the hotel so were ey only there for about 7 hours! But it was really nice! They might go back! ( Courtyard by Marriott, Argyll Road, Dyce!)
They got a taxi at 5.20am and were at the airport by about....5.21am!  They could have walked!
The airport was a breeze and before long they were having an slcohol FREE breakfast!  However, the amount of people drinking at 6am would amaze you!
For a Sunday at 6.30 there were a few on the plane! But it was not well filled!
Virgin did provide good and drink AND love Hearts! I got a great view over London and we saw all of Central London clearly!
They got the underground, having first checked the Heathrow Express first. They had to go 17 stops before getting to Picadilly Circus! They spoke to a student from New York who is in Europe for a your of 35 days! He had just finished uni and was travelling before starting work!
After being up for four hours they were soon walking through Central London.  Regent Street was closed (Summer Sundays in July!) and do they set off to walk! They took a taxi from the hotel to the airport, for all of one minute, but here they WALK!
After a few minutes they could see the BBC ahead which is along the road from the hotel! They check in but it was too early to get in their room so the took off!
I was bundled in a. AG - as usual! First port of call - coffee and good! But they went past the BBC but the coffee shop at the entrance was closed! But a group of middle aged women were there! Linda dared him to go and ask who they were waiting for! So off he went!
One of them said Richard Armitage! after a second it dawned on him.   Thorin Oakdnshield from the Hobbit movies!  Wel, let's just wait said he! We, they waited and waited but he never appeared! He was quite disappointed!! The give ladies were waiting - but they were hardly 'hotties' so perhaps he'd seen them and had left by the rear! Or perhaps he had seen ME!!!
But in between they saw a car with its security Range Rover behind drop off an Israeli looking guy for a news programme! They also saw Andrew Marr ( The BBC Political Guru) les d sfter his show! He was still struggling with walking sticks after his long come a k from a stroke but it's great to see him back on the TV shows once again! Then they saw Peter Hitchens of The Sunday Mail 'infamy' and decided not to approach him! And finally Gareth Mallone, the I can make a choir of anyone fame, go past with hi wife! BUT NO RICHARD ARMITAGE!!

Oh....here's my selfie at the BBC!
So...they went to Pret for food and then took tbe tube to Embankment so they could walk along the river! A lady at the airport must have known they were Scottish as she gave Linda her 'underground day ticket' as she didn't need it anymore and so he bought the same so they cold use it over the day!!

So they could go anywhere - but they go TWO stops down to tbe river!!
They crossed river  at Hungergord Bridge  and go up the embankment past County Hall and 'The Eye' and take in the views and battle through the crowds! They look at St Thomas' Hospital and Parliameng before crossing back over The Thames at Millbank!
We go through Westminster!, Westminster Abbey and on to Buckinghsm Palace before going through St Jsmes's Park to Horseguards! They could not get in there due to the Annivsesry Gsmes taking placd there!
From there it was back to Regent Street and up to the hotel once again!!
They, and I, were really bushed!! Let's hope they recover!

And
One for Nathalie!!

Oh...it can be so funny!! They went gor an ice  cream at St James's. He hands over a TEN pound note and these two Polish workers start examining it to make sure it's real! What a CHEEK!'

So..,despite it being Sunday some people really, I mean really, dress up to go shopping and get the heals out - and although some look amazing some just end up tottering about looking clumsy!!

So, after their siesta I presume its tea and an early night before heading toWimbledon  tomorrow.

Hope all well! More soon!'
