Ted's Tales - Day 1

Well! What aday! It is now 1.50am UK time and we got up at 4am yesterday!
Gaining time has it's advantages and disadvantages!

We left Turra at 4.45am and drover the airport parking! We met L and K at the airport! We went straight through and had breakfast in the lounge! Suddenly we were boarding and we had to rush our croissants! When I say 'ours' II really mean 'theirs' as they forgot about me! I even was submitted to going through the x-ray machine but seemed to survive!
We reached London early and had a great approach to Heathrow! We approached Wembley and cur led right round it and suddenly we were right over central London - almost like the scenes from the apprentice! We flew over The Tower, Tower Bridge, HMS Belfast and on down the Thames! The London Eye, Parliament, Buck House as well as getting a great view of St Pauls!

We landed and then made our way to the departure gate for NY, via some shops of course! Then we got the call to board and tried to sneak through the first class line - but we didn't get far! People want to turn left when they enter a jumbo! Not us! We turned right and went as far as you could go!! They had managed to book the last two rows of seats with a window view! This is great on a jumbo as there are two rows of two at the very back! More room and a view!

We took off and flew over Windsor Castle! I am sure I saw some bears there....or could it have been guards in furry hats? I'm not sure!

Anyway, the usual pattern followed! Take off! Drinks! Meal! Movie time! Sleep! Another drink and then more food before landing!

The flight was ok....but I would have preferred a seat! The views we got over Canada and the approach to New York were great! We landed at JFK after circling way out to sea and then coming back in to the airport! We were on the wrong side for Manhatten views!

Customs was a slow process but we eventually made it and collected our luggage! We then waited for our transfer and we were soon speeding through Queens towards Manhattan! We could see the Empire State standing majestically in the distance! We will beep there soon I thought! The our of them sat and waited patiently as we crossed the Queensboro Bridge and Roosevelt Island on to Manhatten! Soon we were driving down 5th Avenue next to Central Park ( although I didn't see the famous coffee house from Friends!) and then Broadway and Times Square! It was a mass of cars, taxis, limos, buses, bikes and horse drawn carriages! The drivers all jostled about trying to grab any space that appeared and tooting, or honking, their horns if someone got there before them! We had arrived!

The hotel is nice - although no Times Square view like The Novotel - but never mind!
We got our rooms, unpacked, freshened up and then headed out to experience Times Square for ourselves! The heat, the smell of fumes, sweat, food and a multitude of other things hit us straight away! Kelsey just loved it from the word go! She seems to be a party animal!
We went and had tea, dinner....breakfast? I'm not sure which as our body clicks and watches seem to be all. Over the place!

An early night for them and then tomorrow we collect our NY Pass and will have a hectic day of visiting a wide range of attractions! We will try to get one of our requested photos tomorrow with me in it!! Check the photos from today above!

Anyway, now hour 22 and I need some sleep! See you tomorrow for some 'coffee-eee and bagels'!!!

Ted
