Day 6 Noosa

So today was their first real day in Oz! It rained overnight and in the morning it looked quite cloudy and dull! But it brightened and it was soon sunny and warm and they were in short sleeves for most of the day!

Noosa is a lovely place and it is quite busy despite being winter.....and many were in shorts and t-shirts and many were in the water or were lying on the beach sunbathing!

Having had a late night the night before doing the blog they had set the alarm for 8am! A & M were going for breakfast at 9am and the aim was to do the same! They stopped and spoke to the manager in the office to say hello as no one had been there the night before when they arrived! They said they'd come back and settle the invoice after breakfast! So off they went to find a breakfast venue! They ended up at RAW which was on the Main Street on the front! They sat outside and hoped the sun would come out soon! They ordered poached eggs on toast and coffee! The four of them sat for a while and chatted and then discussed what they would do next!

The feeling was that they would go for a walk round to the main beach at Noosa and go for a walk round the area and look at the shops!

I was hoping for a chance to get some sun and have a rest...but I was not holding my breath! They walked for quite a while...the scenery was very nice and the river and the waterfront were alive with people having fun on the beach or sailing, canoeing, water boarding or using jet skis! There is a large number of hotels and appartment blocks and they seemed busy! Water boarding seems to be the in thing at the moment! You have a surf board.....and instead of trying to surf or sticking a sail on it to try and wind surf....you basically get a paddle and stand on the board and paddle about the water! It is very sedate and if you have a good sense of balance then you will be able to scoot along the water quite happily but it might be more difficult on rougher water!

The main 'drag' was very busy and parking was at a premium! The beach was busy and the life guards were out and you are only allowed to swim between the two coloured flags so that they can keep an eye on you! Although there wAs a wind it was not cold and people of all ages were enjoying the beach!

They walked along the beach front and then through the wooded area that runs along the beach front before heading to the shops to have a look about and have a light lunch! The food court was busy and there was a variety of different outlets available!

After lunch they split up and A and L went back to the beach for a walk along the beach again! When they met up again they strolled back to Edward Street and then got the car and headed to Woolworths to do some grocery shopping!

Yes......Woolies still exists in Oz......it is predominantly a supermarket and is one of the staples of the Ozzie shopping scene! But the supermarkets are not up to the UK standard and seem to be a little rough and ready! The one thing you can't get in a supermarket is Booze! If you want to buy booze for home consumption then you have to go to the 'Bottle Shop!
They returned to the flats for A rest for an hour or so before they were going to go out for tea! The plan was to go look for a club that would priced meals! They piled in the jeep and headed out to the edge of town where they looked for and found the 'Noosa and Tewantin Bowling Club'! These clubs are open to members and non-members and are like social clubs! It was a Thursday and you thought it would be quiet! However it was quite busy and they had to wait for 2o odd minutes for their meal to come? The meal was lovely and everyone felt good after a good feed!

Tonight they are going to have an early night as they will be up bright and early tomorrow to go on a ' cruise e on the Everglades! This should be great if the weather is good....but it will be very relaxing indeed!
